Concept design through to mature garden, we take care of it all
Here's some typical questions new clients ask...
Typically a whole project from your initial consultation to a complete landscape will be a minimum of 9 months, it's all dependent on the size and complexity of your project
Design Process: 2-6 months
Tendering: 1-3 months
Construction: 2-6+ months
These time frames don’t take into account things like lead times to start your design, permit processing by authorities and lead times for construction (including seasonal delays).
Every project is different and we tailor every design to the client’s required outcomes and the site requirements. Typically you could expect your landscape design to be in the range of 10% of your overall construction budget.
Typically, we break your design payments into milestone payments
20% due to book your project into our schedule
30% due at presentation of your concept
50% due at your detailed documentation presentation
Once your final payment is received we will provide your finalised digital plan set for sharing with your contractor.
We only take on a limited number of projects per year and typically there will be a lead time of a few months or more before we begin. We select our projects based on compatibility with the clients needs and our services. Complete our enquiry survey to see if we are a good fit for you
Once you've submitted an enquiry we would usually book in a phone call within 48 hours so we can get a better understanding of your project.
We can assist with organising all of these items, but they are helpful if you have them...
A SITE PLAN
Showing the location of the house in relation to your property boundary and a north point. Architects/building designers will usually include a site plan in their set of drawings.
DIGITAL SURVEY OF YOUR SITE
This is usually a plan showing contours, spot levels, the footprint of the house, existing vegetation. It also shows the location of existing site features (such as walls or fencing) and underground services.
YOUR FLOOR PLANS
Showing the current layout and any proposed changes of all the internals, so we can consider the connection of home to garden.
YOUR PROJECT OUTCOMES AND DESIGN BRIEF
What does your new landscape need to deliver? Function, Aesthetics, Site problems to be solved.
We will assist you to clarify and strengthen that brief and vision in our first meetings. We'll ask you all the right questions to help establish your vision and figure out what you need from your space.
INSPIRATION IMAGERY YOU'VE COLLECTED
You may want to share a Pinterest board or Moodboard with us. These are often a great indication of the style and aesthetics you are drawn to.
Your proposal will provide standard revision allowances, which can be negotiated to suit your needs.
Your concept and detailed documentation presentation meetings are there for you to discuss options and give detailed feedback. We then allow an additional 1 week to consider the proposed design before continuing the design process.
Yes, we've had the pleasure of working on many projects further afield, achieving great outcomes for clients. We enjoy working outside our usual area and have extensive experience in warm and coastal climate projects all the way to projects above the snowline.
Projects out of the area attract travel fees but we balance this with video meetings and delivery of work digitally via email.
Canopy Design Studio, founded by Emily Hanekroot, approaches landscape design with a wealth of horticultural and construction knowledge. Emily honed her skills working with one of Australia's most prominent Landscape Designers, William Dangar, where she delivered his cutting-edge designs across Sydney and Australia.
Emily's early experiences in the industry sparked her love for the intricate details of landscape design, constantly seeking new ways to combine textures of foliage, forms of trees and characteristics of materials to express the design intent. At Canopy Design Studio, we create designs prioritising the garden's natural beauty and character.
